Hypoechogenic lesions in lymphocytic thyroiditis. Nodule or not nodule? Table 12
Case 23 Oxyphilic adenoma in Hashimoto's thyroiditis
Case 82 Histopathology disclosed no nodule in Hashimoto's thyroiditis

There is a striking similarity between these cases as regards the ultrasound presentation. Although the partly ill-defined borders and the not complete halo are week arguments that the left lesion may not be a nodule, most cases with this pattern prove to be nodule in a pathological sense. The left case demonstrates that a lesion seemingly a nodule in all probability on ultrasound may be only an unusual presentation of Hashimoto's thyroiditis.
