Hypoechogenic lesions in lymphocytic thyroiditis. Nodule or not nodule? Table 17 - Case 37
Left lobe horizontal scan
Left lobe longitudinal scan

There is a hypoechogenic lesion in the ventromedial part of the left lobe. It could be a nodule, but there are features which are against this possibility. Firstly, the puzzle-like borders and secondly, the presence of other hypoechogenic lesions (see right picture).

To summarize: these lesions are probably more active foci of lymphocytic thyroiditis and not nodules in pathological sense. On the other hand, cytological evaluation is indicated.
