Hypoechogenic lesions in lymphocytic thyroiditis. Nodule or not nodule? Table 22 - Case 77
Left lobe, horizontal view
Left lobe, longitudinal view

There are several hypoechogenic-hyperechogenic areas in the left thyroid. Two of them resemble a multinodular goiter in longitudinal scan at first sight. The presence of similar hypoechogenic areas in the extralesional part are against the possibility that these lesions are nodules.

To summarize: on ultrasound it is very probably that the lesions are not nodules. Cytology disclosed Hashimoto's thyroiditis.
