Next

Clinical data: a 47-year-old man was referred for an evaluation of a thyroid nodule. He was diagnosed as having Graves's hyperthyroidism 3 weeks before. Multiple nodules were described on ultrasound examination.

Palpation: both thyroids minimally-moderately firm without any palpable nodule.

Results of blood tests: hyperthyroidism (TSH undetectable, FT4 47.1 pM/L).

Ultrasonography: the thyroid was composed of minimally and moderately hypoechogenic and echonormal areas. None of the lesions fit to a nodule. The vascularization was moderately increased.

Cytology: was performed from the largest hypoechogenic area located in the right lobe and resulted in benign pattern corresponding to hyperthyroidism.
