Papillary carcinooma - Case 12.

Clinical data: A 52-year-old woman was referred for a follow-up examination. The patient was evaluated for a nodule in the left lobe 5 years ago with the result of a benign colloid goiter. She had no complaints.

Palpation: a nodule in the lower pole of the left lobe.

Functional state: euthyroidism (TSH 0.21 mIU/L, FT4 11.3 pM/L).

Ultrasonography: The thyroid was echonormal. There was a hypoechogenic lesion with blurred borders and microcalcifications in the right and a moderately hypoechogenic nodule in the left lobe. The former was not present on the previous examination.

Cytological diagnosis: papillary cancer.

Histopathology: papillary cancer based on the nodule in the right lobe and benign follicular adenoma based on the nodule in the left lobe.
