Nodular goiter

Clinical presentation: a 52-year-old woman referred for an evaluation of nodular goiter discovered on carotid Doppler sonography.

Palpation. Both thyroid lobes were enlarged and firm.

Functional state: euthyroidism.

Ultrasonography. The echogenicity index was around 50% in both lobes. The circumscribed lesions are not nodules, but pseudolobules of the thyroid.

Cytological report: benign Hashimoto's thyroiditis.
