Follicular adenoma - Case 23. |
|
Clinical data: a 65-year-old woman with a goiter known for 30 years. She had neck discomfort.
Palpation: both lobes of the thyroid were moderately enlarged and a nodule was palpable in the right lobe.
Functional state: euthyroidism with TSH-level 1.59 mIU/L.
Ultrasonography: revealed a solitary hypoechogenic nodule in the upper part of the right lobe.
Cytological report: benign follicular proliferation (microfollicular proliferation without atypia, scanty amount of colloid in the background).
Suggestion: yearly follow-up examination because US excluded the thyroidal origin of neck complaints. The patient wished to be operated.
Histopathology: disclosed follicular adenoma.
