Projecting type eccentric cysts are demonstrated. The solid part displays normal echogenicity in both cases. There are two differences. First, the hyperechogenic granules in the event of papillary carcinoma are a bit larger than in the benign case. The former figures are microcalcifications the latter are non-specific granules. Second the angle between the solid part and the wall of the cyst is acute in papillary carcinoma while blunt in the benign nodule. Nevertheless, as in most cases, these differences are not enough to an unequivocal ultrasound differentiation. |
