Differential diagnostic of hyperechogenic discrete lesions in Hashimoto's thyroiditis - Table 7
Lesions proved to be benign hyperplastic nodules
Lesions proved to be not nodules in a pathological sense
These cases demonstrate the limitations of ultrasound differential diagnostic. Histopathology disclosed in both patients a Hashimoto's thyroiditis, the left patient had benign hyperplastic nodules, as well. On the other hand, no nodules were found on histopathology in the right case. Although there are subtle differences between the ultrasound presentations, a clear differential diagnostic is impossible solely on ultrasonography.
