Hypoechogenic lesions in lymphocytic thyroiditis. Nodule or not nodule? Table 9 - Case 45
Horizontal scans of the left lobe
Longitudinal scans of the left lobe

There are two nodule-like lesions on the horizontal scans. These may held as nodules at first sight. However, the longitudinal section decides the issue: these lesions are not nodules of pathological sense. The irregular shape, the presence of multiple similar lesions are those features which practically excludes the possibility being these lesions true nodules.

Cytology disclosed Hashimoto's thyroiditis.
