Differential diagnostics - Hashimoto's thyroidtis (III)
De Quervain's thyroiditis - Case 8
Hashimoto's thyroiditis - Case 11

The cytological presentation of these cases are very similar. We found multinuclated giant cells including one composed of epitheloid cells even in the case of lymphocytic thyroiditis.
On the other hand, there is a striking difference in the sonographic pattern which is characteristic of the underlying disease in both cases. Moreover, the clinical and laboratory data lacked any signs of de Quervain's thyroiditis in the right case.
