Differential diagnostic of neck lymph nodes
Lymph nodes in the neck - Case 9

A benign, reactive-type lymph node in the left submandibular region

A metastatic lymph node in the right supraclavicular region

Compare the sonographic pattern of the two nodes. In the case of the metastatic node, the less hypoechogenic tumor replaced almost the entire node. Note the lack of hilum and the presence of microcalcification and the disturbed vascularization. The lateral borders of the metastatic node is blurred.
