Parathyroid lesions - Case 3

Right lobe, horizontal views

Right lobe, longitudinal views

The parathyroid adenoma demonstrated in this table has an almost identical echogenicity to the muscle fiber. Therefore, the parathyroid could be very easily overlooked. Nevertheless, the parathyroid was more hypoechogenic and Doppler mode decided the issue in this case: there is a striking difference in the vascularization between the parathyroid and the muscle.

The parathyroid is pointed with yellow, the muscle fiber with green while the thyroid with red arrows in the last picture.
