Clinical presentation: a 50-year-old man was referred for an evaluation of a thyroid nodule detected on carotid Doppler examination.

Functional state: euthyroidism (TSH 2.05 mIU/L).

Ultrasonography: there was a hypoechogenic nodule in the left lobe. The nodule contained micro- and coarse calcifications, as well.

FNAC resulted in benign colloid goiter.

Serum calcitonin test yielded normal result.

Suggestion: repeat ultrasound in a year.
