Clinical presentation: A 46-yr-old woman requested an evaluation. She has been aware of a neck mass for four years. She was diagnosed with two lateral neck cysts in another hospital where cytology resulted in benign cystic lesion. At the first examination 4 years ago, the masses were measured as 12x8x15 and 20x14x22 mm, width, depth, length respectively.

Palpation: a not firm, elastic mass in the left side of the neck.

Laboratory tests: TSH 1.74 mIU/L.

Ultrasonography. The thyroid was echonormal. There were several discrete lesions in both lobes which seemed to have no clinical or oncological importance. There were two, dominantly solid masses next to each other lateral and above the left thyroid lobe. The smaller lesion was 17x10x18 mm while the larger one was 28x16x38 mm, width, depth, length respectively. Non-specific vascular spots were in both masses.

FNA was performed from the larger lesion. There were macrophages and a few small layers of non-atypical epithelial cells which corresponded to follicular cells. There were no signs of malignancy. Wash out thyroglobulin resulted in 1,707 ng/mL.
