Differential diagnostics - the importance of giving information to the cytopathologist
Rare forms of thyroiditis - Case 10: granulation around surgical thread
Follicular carcinoma - Case 1

Follicular adenoma - Case 35

Anaplastic cancer - Case 11

There is no significant difference between anaplastic carcinoma and the other 3 cases regarding the size of the nuclei, the distribution of cells and the degree of pleomorphism. This example empasizes the importance of informing the cytopathologist: while the cytological pattern was not significantly different, the clinical presentation was absolutely different in these cases. See case histories.
