Differential diagnostic of Hashimoto's thyroiditis: proliferation of oxyphilic cells with only limited number of lymphocytes

There were only a few lymphocytes on the smears of these cases. The presence of nuclear debris and the lack of prominent nucleoli could be of help to avoid the false diagnosis of a Hürthle-cell tumor. Nevertheless, the cytology itself is not enough to exclude the possibility of the tumor.
