Murat Faik Erdogan, MD, Professor of Medicine,

Ankara University, School of Medicine, Dept. of Endocrinology and Metabolic Diseases.


Graduated from Ankara University School of Medicine, in 1989, where he has been acting as a full Professor of Endocrinology and Metabolism, since 2004. His main field of interest is thyroidology, iodine deficiency disorders, thyroid nodules, thyroid ultrasonography, and thyroid cancers. He has several epidemiological studies on iodine status of Turkey before and after mandatory salt iodization, serves as the university coordinator of 'Turkish Salt Iodization Program' and country representative in IGN (formerly ICCIDD). He was elected as an Executive Committee Member of the European Thyroid Association (ETA) between 2006 and 2009. Contributed to several ETA Guidelines. He acted as the 'Scientific Secretary', 'President' and POC member of several national and international meetings and postgraduate courses, including ultrasound and educational courses, organized by ETA, ESE and the Society of Endocrinology and Metabolism of Turkey(SEMT). He served as Editorial Board member for several national and international Journals. Dr. Erdogan has contributed to medical literature, with 98 research items, mostly published in the indexed journals and had been cited more than 1836 times, which stands for an 'h' index' of 23.
