Clinical presentation: A 60-yr-old woman was referred for evaluation of neck complaints lasting for two weeks. She had mild tenderness in the right thyroid region and noticed subfebrility.

Palpation: The right thyroid was firm and tender on palpation. No nodules could be palpated.

Laboratory tests were not available at the time of examination.
