This hypoechogenic figure is usually irregularly shaped, contains ragged echonormal tissue which presents hyperechogenic granules. The latter might be as small as non-specific granules or larger than a punctate echogenic focus (microcalcification). A granulation is always avascular and very hard on palpation. Also important to mention, the patient had previously undergone surgery. |
