Clinical data: a 35-year-old woman requested an evaluation because of her weight loss.
Palpation: no abnormality.
Functional state: euthyroidism (TSH 2.65 mIU/L).
Ultrasonography: the thyroid was echonormal. There was a hypoechogenic nodule in the central part of the left lobe. The nodule had irregular margins and contained microcalcifications. The vascularization of the nodule was decreased.
Cytological diagnosis: papillary cancer.
Histopathology: papillary cancer, follicular variant. Chronic lymphocytic thyroiditis in both lobes.
